EGR QUESTIONs

I have disconnected the vacum line to my EGR valve..If it is working it should remain closed.
>>Is there an easy way to check that it is closed?
>>What happens at the next CLEAN AIR test this vehicle has to go through..With the EGR valve disconnected will it fail the test??

Why would you disconnect it? the clean air test for a diesel is only a visual inspection at the tailpipe.

Glad to see you around..
Had your holidays yet??
Start mine the end of this week.

I've read a lot about disconnecting, removing and just plain blocking the valve..and why people are doing it..
So I thought I'd experiment and see for myself just how it would effect the truck.. While I was at it Questions always arise.. So here I post..
Hopeing to learn from others as well as practical experience.

Get those 73"s yet??

HI Rich,

No, took a couple months holidays in the spring when I hurt my back, next holidays are in October.

I always just leave all the little tubes attached - atleast the ones on my truck.

The HZj73's are still in BC, should be leaving tomorrow or friday on the train to ontario.

Hey Louie that's great news on the 73's.
I have left the tube plugged and ty-wraped so I can reinstall If I
Find no significant change.
Thanks for the info about the Clean air.. I'm surprissed they have no tester for it except some one's eyes. Dose it cost as much as a gasser test??

How to check it.??

As above is there an easy way to check that the EGR Valve is closed??
Once the vacum has been removed from it..
