I'm in the middle of installing a header from jt outfitters . What do I do with the egr pipe???

some companys offer non emission and emission hedders.
i take it, you got the non emission hedder.
that pipe really should be connected.
overly hot combustion chamber tempuratures can cause damage, as a result of no EGR.

you could just drill a hole in #6 down tube and have a pipe welded in and ireconnect the "EGR" cooller tube

thats what we came up for one of our 60's

haven't done yet but soon let us know how it works

This may be a dumb question, but,
how does returning hot exhaust gases to the combustion chamber
reduce the temperature there???

Incomplete combuston of the gas/air mix . . .

Exhaust gas cooled of on it's way back to intake manifold . . .

Overly hot combustion temps will melt pistons.

BUT, running a Cruiser engine w/ EGR switched off (or completely removed) will not cause damage, but will have positive effects.

-The combustion temperature is raised up to something reasonable, so carbon and trash is burned off the plugs and chamber.
-less pollution of the oil and cylinder wear due to reduced particulate pollution in the cylinder.
-less carbon in the atmospher due to increased fuel efficiency.

To acheive piston melting temperatures requires some serious screwups in the fuel & ignition department.
