Hi everyone,

Does anyone have an ECU for a '96 80-Series that i can borrow to help troubleshoot a problem.

For what its worth the vehicle starts and runs but is currently in max ignition retardation mode. Can't barely manage to get to about 45mph and coolant temps well above normal. Problem i have is that the ECU is reporting no codes. To half test my hypothesis that the problem is the ECU, i disconnected one of the O2 sensors and i still don't get a code. (Yes the CEL lamp works at startup).

Thanks in advance.

There isn't anything in the ECU that would CAUSE high coolant temps. Sounds like that's the likely source of your problem. Truck probably going into limp mode to keep itself from overheating to death. It probably disregards the O2 sensor when it does that and just uses a default base map. I'd check the thermostat.
