yah... you know you want 'dem :grinpimp:

btw... fit and finish is not one of the importer's best features

my lamps still need some fine tuning, as they sit low and to the inside some
I'll probably just pay a $42. service fee and have that done.
otherwise... I'll just procrastinate it :whoops:

did I say... the corner lamps fit poorly

+ also blended away the SR5 chromed grille bling...

* tail lights ordered as well, but faulty... waiting

~still need to make a deck filler panel for my F bumper's topside~
:grinpimp:

They seem to look pretty good from 10 feet away.

I think they look pretty dang nice! I have been considering new headlamps for my Tacoma, hate the yellow haze on mine. I did replace my tail lamps with new OEM lenses from a 02 model year. Much better look.

Purty. What size tire is that? 35?
Nope... 295/75/16
these measure out to an actual 33.3" mounted (OTT).
and are just a hair wider then the 285's

* nearly all 285's come up short to a 33" when mounted.

not an extremely common size...
but about as tall as I'll, go sporting this pos ifs/steering rack

I only know that these were advertised to fit '98 - '00

I'm not aware... that there are any fender changes between '95.5 - '00 Tacoma models...

I know the '01 - '04 mounts the F. flares differently...
but thought that was the extent of any changes.

These corners I picked up...
look exactly oem... except the clear plastic is smoked some.
The orange side refelctor is nearly identical to the oem unit.
Except... the oem corner assembly fits better.

Noticed a set of those on a silverado today. What backspacing on the wheels? I like my 255's, which measure to a 33.3 but its hard to find a resembly priced AT.

These are 4" bs'd Pro Comp 8069-6883
bs'ing was good for the previous 285's
but wouldn't mind another .25" for the current 295's
3.75" would 'ave been mo' better.

Now I'm thinking about adding a .25" wheel spacer and longer lug studs... at least to the front end.

Oh and muh trail bud rolls the BFG 255's...
he noticed my 295's stand even a little taller then 'is current rubber.

They're actually closer to a 34" nominally (33.6" or .8" can't remember)
But they stand at a real height of 33.3" mounted on the truck.
Buddy's 255's measure 33.3' mounted and balanced... but off the truck closer to 33" ('is has a heavier '04 Dcab tho')

* both sizes are fill near the same... as far as tire pressure goes

Dell, did you do much researching regarding choosing these headlamps? I need to do something...the 3m kit was of no use and OEM replacement one cost $99 ea! I can't seem to find much out there. I'm pretty particular about quality components. I'd go for something if the fit/ finish were top notch. But I'm not ruling out just getting new Toyota lenses. Thanks.

I can't say the fit and finish is great. ('least with mine)
As quality control standards seem to be the failure here.

The product itself... I think is acceptable...
And tho' some flaws could be found...
The effort of returning or exchanging them,,,
might not be worth the hassle of it.
Tho' that may depend on what vendor was used.

On my set... they had a coupla' of paint flaws
and the reflector coatings was sprayed on...
before lint or some other particulate had been wiped clean
.

The ones I received, would have been returned defective
But the vendor compensated me enough...
so that I decided to just let it slide.

If they survive a few years.. I'll be satisfied...
They were inexpensive enough...
so it's not like they broke 'da bank.

I'd stick to original factory replacement parts...
if yer anal about quality control. jm $.02

Many aftermarket lights could be every bit as good...
if the mfgr's followed better controls.

I've read somewhere...
that the labor that assembles these overseas
have poor environmental /work conditions.

Tho' I don't know all the facts of it.

So how about pattern and actual output compared to good OE lamps with the same bulb?

I doubt that I will reinstall the originals at this point
for a comparison of the two...

But I will post up some pics of the patttern/beam
later next week after I have the JDM's aligned perfectly.

Maybe some one else has a comparison picture posted somewhere !?

I know there's a thread over at TW that shows the later model JDM lights operational... tho' don't think it shows pattern or I'd link it.

But I haven't really searched all that much to locate that comparo.

edit:

managed a few crappy photos coming out muh driveway...

* keep in mind these are not adjusted perfectly and that the bulbs are 90/100 w

Glass lenses would be much better. My truck looks almost new, excellent paint ect ect but my lenses really make her look bad.

Damn, doesn't look bad at all. And the look of the vehicle itself is nice. Thanks.
