Diamond plate on a frame-off always makes you wonder....

eBay- CT FJ40 frame off restoration

Take it from me the diamond plate and rocker guards were just a personal preference. All rust was removed and new metal welded in. This is one awesome cruiser, How do I know? I built it. Some of you might remember the pic from last year. For somebody looking for a mostly original Cruiser (drivetrain), it's worth looking at. It won't dissapoint.

How much did you sell it for?

I remember this one, it was at shop in CT with a blown engine.

CT FJ frame off resto

TO clear up any possible confusion, the blue one was my last project and the tan one is my current one.The blue one has the original drivetrain which was mechanically excellant and the tan one had the blown motor. For anyone SERIOUS about buying an fj40 stop picking it apart and go look for yourself.

Who picked it apart? If you're talking about what Jsaltlick said, you may not be aware, but it is a common practice to cover rust with diamond plate.

If you're gonna hang around this board, you'd better thicken that skin.

Definitely wasn't picking it apart. It's generally rare to put diamond plate on a frame up resto and it struck me as odd. Not saying anything negative as some people do add it on for style.

Being in the Northeast, diamond plate usually covers up a gigantic rust problem. I said "it makes you wonder" meaning why would someone pay a fortune for a frame up resto then cover it with diamond plate? Just a personal preference but I'm not a fan of diamond plate. That's all.

Let me first say that I respect everyones opinions,I think I was misunderstood. Im not trying to be defensive Im just trying to give first hand input for anyone who may be looking for a nice fj40.Being a landcruiser guy for many years I know all the pros and cons, and yes diamond plate lends itself to questions,we thought it would give it a rugged look and be a little different.

.
As for the lift,it had stock springs with extended shackles.

Again Im sorry for any misunderstanding,I love this site, read many of the posts and get tons of info. Thanks.

Everything is all cool an nobody needs to sweat anything. It is tough to get people's tone when it is just words on a screen. No worries here!

18,100 and reserve still not met? and i thought my cruiser was pricey. yes, i am poking fun at myself here not anyone else..
