So without being able to find a related thread on this that could find searching, I decided to buy these off eBay. Was $450 delivered AUD on an offer I made.

The US crew will probably think that’s super expensive, but for comparison a pair of Rhino roof racks, would be $650 AUD, and a Pioneer Platform from Rhino is $2,000 plus install, and they won’t try installing on my car. Very annoying. I know it can be done but they won’t do it.

There are also a few reasons I chose cross bars: low profile, I park in heaps of low garages, quiet (I hope), def more quiet than a full platform, I have a weekly commute which is circa 750km per week, I won’t have much other than surfboards on them more than likely, aerodynamic. So seemed a good choice.

Well, they look pretty good, but there is a small amount of play in them. They are not actually locked in, they get close but not quite tight. Maybe 1mm play, mayyyybe. You have to tenshion them by adjusting the screws underneath after extending them. Impossible.

I’m not super sure I love them, and probably will try to return them. Thoughts?

If anyone has a better option, with my comments above in mind, I am ALL ears!

I have the same setup with 6 bars altogether. However I used OEM ones from people building up their rigs for pennies on the dollar. It’s a great setup, I use ratchet straps and loop straps to tie things down. To your point this kept a low profile and in and out of b parking lots is unaffected

Not really, I have since that picture added a Yakima wind faring… but mostly as an attempt to curve bugs over my cargo.

Can you put a roof top tent over two or three of these? The OEM seem to have some plastic parts and these are fully metal.

That looks epic.. same strength as a platform, maybe more?

I have the LX facelift rails so can’t use them, but would have otherwise.

This is mine from another angle:

It looks great and the price is very good. Do you notice any more noise?
I drove today and there is zero noise on my setup.

Yes apparently much stronger, if you look at the photos the build quality is very sturdy.

What is the use case of having 3 bars instead of 2? I would think you want less weight up there if you don't need it.

These weigh maybe 2kg each, 3kg tops, and increasing the carrying capacity (in theory) by 50% seemed a good payoff.
