That said, a Cruiser guy (apparently) sold me one big blue piece of crap one time. Comment withdrawn.

look like the same Aussie mirrors that are on our '60....if so, they are good quality and a nice upgrade from U.S. spec

They look like to aftermarkets that Coolcruisers used to sell. The pair I had on mytruck were better than stock but did vibrate a highway sppeds. I replaced them w/ EOM Aussie style mirrors which a nicer but $$$. If your interested PM me and I maybe willing to sell my aftermarket ones.

Kaderabek,
That wouldn't have been the awesome looking 62 from Fairbanks, would it? Is that the same one you' have for sale on the SOR site?

Yeah, i made the MISTAKE of purchasing those Aussie OEM Replicas from SOR and was very dissapointed!!!!

My rig had busted up stock mirrors on it when i got it so i knew i needed an upgrade!

Anyway, after months of searching and asking questions, the general consensus were that the REAL Aussie mirrors were the way to go and the Repro's were of poor quality! I figured that the quality couldnt be that poor so i dished out the $100 to specter for the pair of Repro mirrors and the quality was crap! I had to go through and manually tighten and lock-tight all the bolts to keep the mirrors from ratteling out of adjustment and the mirror glass is loose inside the mirror frames and makes a very annoying rattling noise when i close the door!

They are an OK upgrade over the useless stock ones but if you are going to do it, PLEASE do yourself a favor and go with the real ones and not the repros! I was very dissapointed with my repros!

When i contacted specter to complain about them, all they offered to do for me was let me send them back for credit towards the real ones. I dont have the $$ for them now, but as soon as i do, i am taking these repro crap mirrors off my rig!

Hope this helps!

real ones=good, those(plastic) repo's suck..........wanna buy a pair(plastic)......just happen to have a set...............they ROCK ;)

I bought some 62 series reproduction mirrors in black. They're better than the little stock mirrors but the glass vibrates a lot at any speed. The body of the mirror itself is okay. But I'd still take them over the tiny stock mirrors. Those little mirrors (along with the stupid 4-speed tranny) is one thing I never could figure out about Toyota--why would they put them on the Cruiser?

Yeah, sign me up, I need some more crap to throw into the back of the garage :flipoff2:

cwb - the 4 speed isn't such a bad thing. It's rock-solid, and for the US market, the whole 5-speed thing didn't really become popular in the market until '84-'85 - and IIRC, the only thing with a 5 speed were sports cars, really. Most domestic trucks either had 3 speed autos or the rare 4-speed (1st being a granny in the early '70s trucks)

In 20 years, someone somewhere is going to say "what in the hell were they thinking putting only a 5-speed in this thing...why didn't they at least go with a 6-speed?"

Hell, it wasn't until recently that you could get a 4-speed auto in anything - except I had a '73 Mercedes 280C that had a 4-speed auto in it...back in the day, that was specialized and high-end.
