I'm trying to plan an overland trip for me and my boys next May on the East Coast. I just bought a '13 LC200, and am having it fitted with wheels, lift, arb bumpers, and a snorkel in February. This is all prep for Africa because I'm moving to Mauritania in June. Anyway, if you guys have east coast overland ideas for me I would greatly appreciate it.

Where is your starting point?

There are a few Youtube Channels of guys that overland around New England, another group that went through the smokey mountains.

I will start in Northern VA but am mostly focused on the duration of the trip. I can get about 5 total days.

With a five day limitation and a starting point in northern Virginia I'd probably head to the Blue Ridge Parkway and take side road excursions. Haven't been in that area for a number of years so I would recommend an online search or find a park ranger once in the area who could point out some interesting areas using logging roads, etc.

Hey odinskind-

There is also a pretty good park right near West Virginia/ Maryland/ Virginia called Green Ridge State Park. Old fire roads, rivers, and primitive camp sites. They closed down the Off Road Vehicle parts (ORV) but I think that has more to do with 4-wheelers and not street legal trucks.
It would be worth researching because it was one of my favorite parks. Good camping with old fire roads taking you to the private camp sites.

(Western Greenridge State Forest).

Also found these guy- not on youtube--- Vimeo.

Sounds like your best bet would be to head into Southwestern Virginia (VA). There is not really much in Maryland but some stuff north of me in Pennsylvania. I think if you were going to drive to PA, it would be better instead to drive south and stay in VA.
