I am looking for the shifter position delete insert for the early 91-92 80 series dash cluster. I might even buy a complete gauge cluster if that is all I can get. I am swapping my automatic transmission for a manual.

If you have the insert or a cluster please send me a pm and let me know what you are asking for it.

Bump

What about just taking apart your dash and inserting a piece of plastic for the piece says PRND321?! I think you can easily make something that covers it up with some junk parts! Personally I would make something to insert that say MANUAL… just to rub it in a little LOL

If you’re thinking of doing this, check your local library they may have a maker space! Then you could maybe 3D print or laser burn something like this!

This is my plan B. I would prefer to use a factory part if I can find one but if I cannot by the time I have to put the dash back together I will find a creative way to cover or create my own stencil of some kind.

No longer in need, I have a friend who was able to source one for me out of Australia.

Well the cluster I purchased from Australia has the delete plate but it is not correct for my cluster.

I am still looking for a delete insert for a 91-92 cluster.

Is the 91 cluster the same as a 93? And do you already have a transmission?

I do have a transmission, it is installed and the 80 is almost ready to drive.

I am not sure if the clusters are the same 91-93. My first guess is probably not I have found that many of the 91-92 80s came with a speed cable which plugs into the back of the gauge cluster where later models had an electronic speedo. Some parts of the clusters are interchangeable but they are not all the same across years, gas vs. diesel versions and differences for various years with different options offered in non us markets.

This is how I ended up buying a diesel 80 cluster with a manual speedo guage only to find the cluster gauge cover is very different.

I ended up pulling the selector insert out of my original gauge cluster and covering it with a Matt finish wrap. Then reinstalled it. Worked great!!

Pretty sure you could just put a piece of 3M electrical tape over the auto selector lights and no one would ever know.

I did us 3m tape first. The sheen was not as consistent compared to the other cluster components. I pulled it off and used the wrap. The wrap is a better hack than the tape in my opinion.
