I have been looking for a 200 LC. A while back I had a brand new Lexus loaner while my car was getting warranty work with their dynamic radar cruise control. It was amazing and you could set a speed of say 50mph and the car would hit the breaks and stay behind the car in front of it even in stop and go traffic. If you came to a full stop, I think it would turn off, but it as long as you were still rolling the cruise control would accelerate and brake through the traffic.

Online I've found the statement Advanced trims may employ Full-Speed Range Dynamic Cruise Control. I am guessing that the description above is the advanced full speed version of the cruise control rather than just the "dynamic radar cruise control". I would really like this full speed feature where it will brake and go as slow as 1 mph in traffic on cruise control. I am confused because I found one site that said that the 2018+ LC has the Full-Speed and the 2016-17 has the dynamic cruise control which will use radar but not go as slow.

Can you guys help me figure out what is correct and what years woudl have the most advanced toyota/lexus cruise control that will brake and work in almost stop and go traffic without me having to hit the gas and brake? Is this just a lexus feature or does the LC have it and what years?

Thanks guys!

My 16 has the regular radar controlled cruise but not the one that works in super slow traffic.

My 2018 is not available under 32mph IIRC from the Warning on the instrument cluster. Not sure if you set it higher and then enter low speed traffic under 32 mph, but I don't believe it will function under that mph....

Best,

John

I seem to think that the Lexus I had required you engage it above 35 but it would go down to .5mph following the car in front of it braking and speeding up along the way. I'd be shocked if the LC didn't get the same technology as the smallest Lexus SUV

According to 2016 manual
30mph to set Radar (have to be going this fast)
shuts off below 25mph
so bummer for us but does not work in true stop and go fashion

Both the 2019 Corolla and rav 4 have tss 2.0 which has full speed adaptive cruise and a lane centering function which actually does a fairly good job of centering the car in the lane while driving. Unfortunately, no other Toyota vehicles have this technology yet. Furthermore, both the Land cruiser and LX570 still have the original version of drcc which is as previously mentioned and only works above 25ish mph. Really disappointed that we can’t get this tech yet in such a pricey vehicle.

2019 LX570 has "All Speed" DRCC, which from what I understand works at all speeds, including stop and go traffic. Doing a quick search, I think the All Speed started in 16' for the 570's. Interesting that the LC would have a different DRCC.

damn, so technology in a car build years ago wont work in the LC? Are all 2016-2018 exactly identical then? aside from the lone entertainment option?

As for lane centering, I'm betting beyond the cameras a fundamental part of the system is the electrically assisted power steering. I can't see them putting this technology on a 200.. or even a 300, given the demands on our steering systems to be effective off road.

You are absolutely correct, I don’t know how I missed this. Does anyone have any reports on how well it works? In fact it looks like it’s been there since 2016.

Well, my wife's only had her LX for a few weeks now, but she uses it pretty much everyday in her roughly hour drive to work from our home. She says it works quite well, but she's mostly highway, so doubt it's seen much (any) stopping.

The rental I had was amazing. Sorry the LC doesn't have it. Any changes at all for the LC between 2016-2018?

The last several vehicles my wife has had all had some form of DRCC. She refuses to purchase anything without it now!

I've used it a few times and think it's pretty cool, but not something I would have to have personally (I rarely use cruise control though).

My brother-in-law has the new corolla with the lane centering. He said it's crazy when the car takes over the steering wheel and moves it to straighten the car back to center.

I can see them putting this tech in the LX570 with a simple toggle switch, just like our lane departure warning button.

I doubt lane centering will be added as long as this platform uses hydraulic power steering. It is very easy to make an electric-motor assist steering system turn the wheel by itself.. everything needed is there other than the control systems. Adding that to a hydraulic power steering system would require completely redesigning it..

I recently drove a RAV4 that had lane centering, it felt like it used ABS system to do so

Feels like when I drive my 15 LX570 it's pretty much self centering in the lanes. If I veer over the line I hit the car in the next lane and bounce right back into my lane. Seriously it's as wide as the lane isn't it.

The all-speed radar cruise that works in stop-and-go is a must have in any new car I buy. Even when I had my 200 series I would use the older version whenever I could. I end up driving within the hwy speed limit, never tempted to stick close as I always config at the max third toggle distance, and by consequence often wished it would work in thick LA traffic so I could relax a bit.

My brother has a Honda CRV with lane correction. It also detects when you supposedly close your eyes and warns you so you don't fall asleep. If it detects it so many times in a period it makes you pull the car over. We were on a road trip and it forced him to stop in not the best place. He was wide awake. I personally like to drive my car and will avoid a lot of this crap.

No, it uses the electric power steering.
