For anyone who has taken these DVD headrests out, what do the connections look like? I am wondering if I could adapt a set to connect to my in-dash aftermarket Alpine. I mean I am sure the connectors are proprietary, but the wiring behind the connectors should be standard. I could probably splice a composite end on the cables and run it up to my dash.

I've looked at a ton of other ones on Amazon but I like the idea of them being "OEM" even if they were port-installed or whatever.

If anyone has a set in beige they want to off-load I would be interested in them!

It’s a super easy plug that you can disconnect if you tilt your seat towards the back (remove the 4pcs anchor bolts). Mine was secured only with an electrical tape. If your dvd player on the headrest was installed by the dealer, most likely we have the same type of connectors.

I do not have the DVD headrests. I just have plain headrests and I was wondering if I could somehow cut the end off one and splice a standard connection on the end so I could run them off my Alpine DVD in-dash.

Missed that lol scanned your post while in traffic. I’m sure you can it’s just a matter of finding the right wires to connect but yes it likely you can get an adapter unless you swing by your local audio shop maybe they have a converter adapter they can offer you that works specific for your head unit.

IMO those DVD headrests are not worth searching out. I had some dealer installed ones in my 05, and they were cheap aftermarket garbage. I ripped them out within the first month and replaced them with unmarred factory headrests. If memory serves they were tapped into the central video system under the center console via a standard 2 conductor RBA/VGA analog signal.

From what I remember of mine, each headrest had its own DVD player (in the headrest), each headrest could watch the other as its source, and each had an aux input.

I would not retrofit these port/dealer installed POS screens, there is little to nothing “factory” about them, and having them “unlatch” and rattling in your ear is rather annoying.

Interesting. I didn't realize they were so bad. Bottom line is I would like to have a screen for the kids to watch shows. I don't like the ones that clip onto the headrest mounts because they look like they would wobble and/or stick out too far. Plus they would have cords dangling everywhere. I know we could just give them a tablet but I don't really like them playing mindless games and being completely sucked in.

It's just surprising to me how expensive the current crop of aftermarket headrests are for early 2000's technology.
