So Myself and my buddy in his Rover are doing the Dusy on September 7th 8th & 9th We wil be leaving the trial head at courtright rersevior at 7:30 Friday am. We are going up Thursday evening to Shaver Lake to drop off truck and trailer and will either be camping there or at the trailhead. This trail is 32 miles long and quite difficult in many spots. Beautiful views and many lakes. It takes the full 3 days if you still want it to feel like a vacation and not a bonzai run. Get online on Mud or youtube to get an idea before deciding. Trail runs from elevation 8k to 10.2k and back so be prepared, vehicle and for any kind of weather. Our schedule is set so if you can make it and feel up to it lets go have some fun.:steer:

Sounds fun James!

We actually parked our truck/trailer at the boat marina. They charged $5 night or something like that, and it felt safe leaving it there.

also, take starter fluid. The only time we ever had to use it was on Thompson hill. (hot and elevation)

So two days to go can't wait. Curious if we are going to have any other takers on the Dusy run? We will be running on CB channels corresponding the dates if anybody is running late. See ya'll on the trail if we see ya.

Okay so here's a brief trip report. - We made it to the top of Thompson Hill 11 miles in and thats as far as we were willing to go at that point due to time constarints, breakage, long repairs and exhaustion.

Thanks to a couple local club memebers of "the Mountain Goats" passing through for winching help getting a truck out of a bad spot.

Side note - DO NOT attempt Thompson hill in a hail storm - we got hit for a hour halfway up the steep climb, made for a long brutal climb (5 hours of winching, broken axles and thwarted lines).

Still glad we went, it was definately and adventure, very polite and friendly people on the trail, outstanding views (will post a few pics soon) and time well spent with friends.

Finally made it out late Sunday tired and home safe.

Glad you made it out James. What broke the mini or the rover?

Had a great time

Pictures cannot really put in to perspective Thompson Hill

It is definately a "Bucket List" Trail

Wider than 86" you will rub on trees

Only trail I have ever been on that Almost every tree at some point has been winched on by some one

Views and Elevation are both breathtaking

The picture of Jame's 4runner is on tompson hill around 9500 feet
He is around 100ft away or so and near that in elevation above me
very quick elevation change
