That looks awesome. Glad to see your BACK in action. Where do most of your banded birds come from? Ours come from Manitoba or Saskatchewan. I have only killed 2 banded mallards, 1 teal and few banded geese in my life, congrats on the band.

Some people hunt their entire life and never kill a banded bird. Also people display their bands like trophies on their duck call lanyards. Mine end up in a drawer gathering dust. It also is pretty cool when you call in the band # and receive a certificate in the mail giving you details of the bird you shot. Here is the last one I shot....... I like the way they say "encountered".

I was hunting the weekend before last, and shot a plump mallard, and saw it had some jewelry on it. I was excited because it was my first bird with some bling. After the hunt was over, I grabbed the bird and read the tag. It was a tamey from across the street.

That sucks but it is still a band.:D I once shot a goose that was banded the day before on a refuge about 20 miles from where I was hunting. Not much history on that one and it was kinda a let down too. I used to guide when I was a kid and I swear I would bring a new guy out to the blind (like their first hunt) and sure enough they would kill a banded bird. I would tell them how lucky they were but it never seemed that they fully grasped the odds. That or they just thought I was trying to get a bigger tip.:meh:

Nah, I don't count tameys - especially corn fed ones a few hundred yards away.
