Hey all, been a while, hope all is well in SoCal80 land!

So, anyone ride a dual sport? I'm picking up an older well built XR650L on Friday and will be making my first offroad ride in 20 years around the fire roads east of Big Bear this weekend. Depending on how sucky I am, probably try to do Rose Mine, Juniper Spring, and Burns Canyon down to Pioneertown. I'm sure some of you motorheads also ride, so please tip me off on the local crews that are welcoming newbies. Also planning on the Advrider Death Valley Noob Rally next March if time (and skill) permit!

Glad to see you still trolling Tare!

I been following your fake grass thread, looking forward to some pictures.

Good luck. I'm still waiting for the battery install photos.

Grass and putting green install begins August 12. :) Water district said in the final approval letter to shut off water to the grass. It already looked :censor: as :censor: from only watering twice a week. Almost completely dead now. I took some pics for the application back in April. Probably should take some more now and as it progresses. Looking forward to having a green 'lawn' again.

Good luck. I'm still waiting for the battery install photos.

You really want pics of two batteries? :meh:

Brad - total thread hijack in progress - sorry. Back on track - Tare had it right. Dave Druck rides all over the local mountains.

Bunch of a$$holes...hijacking a non-cruiser related thread to talk about non-cruiser related fake grass installation

:flipoff2:

I miss ih8mud.

I installed the air lift 1000 bags today. I have OME 863's in the rear and went with the 60755 kit. Seems to fit perfect and the plastic puck seems to make enough room that I didn't bother drilling out the hole. Time will tell if my install was legit, but a pretty easy job with a bottle jack, a couple jack stands, and a few hours.

With 400lbs of hitch carrier and motorcycle on the back I was experiencing weak braking, so hoping this gets me squared away.

Happy to walk anyone through the job if you're considering doing it.

If it doesn't even with the airlift bags, you may need to look at adjusting your brake line proportioning valve. Easy to do. Plenty of info in the 80's section.
