I recently decided to dive into a dual battery system. After a slight scare with my two boys in the backcountry of Wyoming last summer I think it is cheap insurance for starting after a few days of camping.

I have decided to go with 2 Optimas a Red and Yellow group 35's for a starting and auxillary battery...

PLEASE DON'T TURN THIS INTO A THIS OR THAT BRAND BATTERY THREAD! (I've done my homework and been running them without issue for 12 years now, I know about all the other options, and the never ending "interweb quality issues" of Optima. I have these two batteries in hand and other than their sizing issue, they seem really small, I'm likely moving forward with them).

The group 35 Optimas have such a small footprint that I think I can squeeze them into the factory battery location by turning them 90* from factory and building a custom dual tray.

Has anyone been down this road? It'd be nice to have my entire dual setup in one spot instead of the typical opposite corner arrangement that most do.

I was surprised at the footprint and size of the Optima group 35, it doesn't even snug up under the factory hold down bracket, I am curious for those running Odyseey batteries, do they fill out the factory tray? My Optima is swimming in the factory location.

Thanks in advance

Thanks Alex, I'm going the route Christo did in the same spot.

And the second thread had my answer thanks! This should save me a kerbillion dollars in wire.
