Out of all the vehicles at SEMA 2015 this was the only one sporting something other than a massive 12V Lead battery. Has anybody used an Odyssey battery? ODYSSEY battery - Official Manufacturer's Site

What is pictured here is four 550 CCA batteries paired together to make a dual battery setup. What I liked about this was the space requirement since these are skinny. All together it was about 1.5 times the size of one Optima battery.

Has anybody used a lithium ion battery in a car? Gruber Power, which is a battery MFG in north phoenix, is going to start making Tesla replacement batteries and I talked with them about making a dual battery option for a car that fit within the same battery footprint as a standard lead batter so that it might make a dual battery project a lot easier.

Thoughts?

unless I'm misreading something on their website, those batteries (PC680) are only 170 CCA each, and there are 4 setup in 2 pairs. I'd be intested to know more about that vehicle's setup and purpose for the battery setup that way.

looks interesting. Not being critical , but: after seeing several issues over the years with dual battery set ups, Im personally convinced in the "keep it simple" philosophy. Less is more - every extra conneciton is another potential point of failure.

Im still happy with the monster marine group 31 along with a micro jump starter. just my .02

For those of you who want the biggest and baddest in batteries. Check out InduraPower at www.Elitise.com. Company that is based in Tucson. They were at SEMA and are ready to start production after the 1st of the year. They are just awaiting certification. The DOD is all over them like white on rice. I have been working with them for the last 7 months through my job, but due to disclosure couldn't talk about them. They WILL change batteries as we know them. The website doesn't say too much about them but their motorcycle sized battery is 1/3 the weight of a conventional motorcycle battery and can start any non commercial vehicle sold in the US. 2800 cold starts on a Nissan Titan V8 without giving it a chance to recharge and the battery showed no depreciable loss. The big car battery is essentially 2 of them connected with a full 5 yr warranty. The way they are connected internally eliminates the need for a 2nd battery. The CEO considers all traditional batteries to be crap...this includes the Optima ( I have never been overly impressed). They wont be cheap but they have technology that the battery world hasn't seen.

@jclarke450 any idea on pricing? Just curious...

I removed my dual battery setup. I now have a Anti-Gravity jumpbox, solar, and an ArkPak with my former "dual battery" in it for trips where I am parked for days and think I might really tax my battery. With that setup the ArkPak is plugged into the car and charges when driving and my fridge is plugged into the ArkPak 24/7. My solar panel can also work with the ArkPak as required. Unless you want a dual battery for winching I just don't think the cost is worth it. Most people (me included) want a dual battery so they have a battery for all of their accessories and keep their starter battery safe. Well a jump box can do that and at some point you still have to charge everything. Solar is so cheap and so effective here in the southwest I just think it is the best way to go. My lame opinion of course.

Here is a new device with a lithium ion battery. Pretty cool. The bulk of the high price is for the battery inside. Hopefully those prices will come down in a couple of years. Having batteries that can't be run down like your phone battery are lame....

I spent a lot of time and money installing my dual battery setup. Between the cost of the parts and the time involved, I would not recommend doing it again. For my LX450, I went another route. I carry an antigravity battery (for jumping) and a Blue Sea m-LVD Low Voltage Disconnect.

My priority was to have backup starting power in the event I drained my battery through the use of accessories. Other folks will want the dual battery to provide 'house' power, which was not my intent.

I like the idea of a separate battery pack like the one that LCP uses or perhaps an updated version with Lithium Ion batteries that could be charged via solar. Just my $0.02.

@jclarke450 I see that elitise has been updating their site. Are the getting ready to open shop?

@Dimples , can't say much due to confidentiality.
