DRLs out, but one side's high beam works?

My DRLs don't come on, but when I put the headlights on high, the passenger side comes on. So I changed the bulb on the driver's side (it appeared to be out), but that didn't help.

I didn't realize the DRLs on the LX are the high beams too... is that right?

Any thoughts on what problem could be with the driver's side?

Sorry no help on the problem, but I can confirm that the DRL's onthe LX are in fact the high beams too.

Also, given how in the DRL configuration the two are effectively wired in series, if either on of the lights goes bad, I would expect the DRL mode to fail on both sides. While at the same time, the high-beam on the side with the good bulb would continue to function (just as you observed.)

I'm surprised that your swapping the light that didn't turn on while in high-beam mode didn't solve your problem... that would have been my first guess.

Since the DRLs are the high beam bulbs, I would guess that there is a relay somewhere in the DRL circuit that feeds low voltage to them during DRL operation. If replacing the affected bulb didn't work, I'd start looking further upstream for the source of the problem.

^ yes but even the high beam on the driver's side doesn't work. Would such a relay affect both the driver's side DRL/hi beam, and the DRL on the passenger side?

Ok I must've misread your first post. So, you have no DRLs at all, the DS high beam is out completely, but the PS high beam works?

Hmm..

Yes, and I did check the fuses, 17, 18, and 19 I believe. However I think I will check them again as this is weird.

Turned out to be a loose splice type connector I believe Slee put in when they installed bumper/aux lights. The DRLs (and aux lights) weren't getting grounded.

It happens. Glad you got it sorted out.
