I checked the driveline thread but want to be sure for my specific vehicle. I need to drive my 2004 4-Runner short distances with only the front driveshaft in place. I read in the driveshaft thread that it is OK if the CDL switch is on. Are there any issues I need to be aware of? I understand re-aligning it is important and plan to mark the yokes with paint. The Haynes manual says to torque flange bolts to 64 ft-lbs. That seems a little low. Any comments related to torque? Thanks.

I'd be careful and not put the coals to it. The front diff just isn't strong enough to handle full throttle and full traction. Otherwise you'll probably be OK. Ive driven home on a front shaft in hilux a couple times. Once was ~200 miles. But that's with a solid front axle. My brother was driving near Pulman Idaho and had a rock fall off into the road, came around the corner and hit it dead center in his 03 Silverado. Mangled the rear drive shaft. He dropped it off and drove from there back to Montana with just the front. No issues.
If the Silverado can do it your 4runner should be able to. Again, just take it easy on the throttle.
