I want a firm ride on the front (not to much …) and more soft on the rear of my BJ70.

So, is it a good thing to get rancho rs5000 or Monroe or KYB or… for the front axle and get the OEM on the rear axle ?

The question is : is it a bad thing to use different kind of shock on the rig ?

I imagine it doesn't matter one lick. It's best to use the same shock type on the same axle, but front to back I doubt it matters too much as long as you like the ride.

based on my own and other's experiences, the Ranchos are stiff...unnecessarily stiff...so they might be what you're looking for. A friend had KYB's on his 60 some years ago...I drove it, they seemed fine, but he had 29" P-rated tires on it, so ???? Stock Tokicos seem fine too, and not big $$$.
