Of course the algorithm put 2 and 2 together, crossing my day job with Land Cruisers, and came up with this. Maybe others will find it interesting.

An aerodynamics study of the 200-series.

Well, I find the news shocking. It’ll take time for me to process this. I was under the impression that we had a drag coefficient under 0.20.

Or are you telling me they’re making bricks as slick as a 200 series now? That’s truly amazing. Computers!

I guess it could be brickier... 🤷‍♂️

Land Cruisers are tough and last a long time, like bricks. I would not want to get hit by a brick...or a Land Cruiser. After 13 years of aging, I still like my Land Cruiser...and I still like bricks.

The fourth little piggy built his house from Land Cruisers.

__________
Shall I compare thee to a humble, heavy brick?
Thou art more solid and more truly square.
Through dust and mud thou rollest, staunch and thick,
No slight decay can mar thy metal wear.

The common curve doth quickly lose its grace,
And modern lines must yield to fashion's whim,
But thy design maintains its sturdy face,
With profile resolute and stern and grim.

Thou art a fortress built of steel and glass,
A fundamental form in motion found,
That takes no heed of things which quickly pass,
But stands firm-planted on the broken ground.

So while the fleeting styles of cars decline,
Thy rugged, ancient shape shall ever shine.

In the quest to make the Land Cruiser a bigger brick, what I take away from this is that aero is still a factor especially for Overlanding style adventure travel with extended highway miles.

Couple things I try not to overly compromise modding the LX, is keeping the wheels and tires flush without too much poke. Minimizing external doo-dads and avoiding aftermarket roof racks. Moderate lift where possible (and this is where the LX hunkering down on the freeway does help). Even as I needed the body lift for 37s, I kept that minimal at .75" as that's a potentially big increase in overall frontal area.

The 37s surely didn't help along with the added rolling resistance of R/T tires.

Everything stacks.

I accept that MPG will go down and it's smiles per mile, with an aux tank providing even more smiles.
