I have some Mobil1 grease in my gun, and was about to use it on my drive shaft when I change the oil this week, but seem to recall reading somewhere that it calls for something different. Any input? I have always used the same synthetic grease to lube everything, but don't want to just go to town and set myself up for some failure.

I have been wondering this myself and I did some research. It seems like the opinions vary from moly grease and non moly grease being used on different parts to just throw what ever you have in there. One site said that the techs just grab whatever gun is around and pumped a few squirts in.

I just bought some Mobile 1 like you and am planning on using that everywhere unless I see evidence that this is incorrect.

Yeah, I didn't see a tech bothering to ensure they grabbed a specific grease gun. I figure they are grabbing whatever is handy and letting fly before kicking it back out the vehicle door. That said, didn't figure it would hurt to ask!

literally dozens of threads on the subject. Google-fo it.

FWIW, I've used Mobil1 for u-joints and driveshafts in my Toyota 4wd's since about '98 and never had an issue. Using it in the GX as well....
