Took my 15 year old to a parking lot for some driving training in my lx570. He gets his permit at 16 1/2. I already bought him a car 2019 corolla 6 speed manual. Teach em young. P.s. is took the wheel for the mulch pile climb but he'll be getting some practice with that kind of stuff too.
Oops! Fortunately, looks as if no damage was done, though he does look rather pleased with himself.
When my son was 14, I let him drive, for the first time, my LC from Hwy 127 at the Harry Wade turnoff to Saratoga Springs and then the rest of the Harry Wade road to the West Side Road in Death Valley, almost all the way to Furnace Creek. That was about 75 miles of driving for his first time behind the wheel. Mostly uneventful but did hit the water crossing on the Amargosa River a bit hard creating a wall of water, covering the car. I wish I had saved the dash cam footage. By the time he got his learner's permit, he already had several hundred miles of off-road driving.
