You got the shakes? Good luck finding a good one outside of aftermarket cheapies. OEM is still available, but pricey IIRC and you'd have to paint it!

There's a long thread in the 80's section on various ways to fix the shaky mirror syndrome. Everything from epoxy to zip ties! I've done both. Epoxy to reinforce or reattach the little tabs or the screw mount at the bottom of the mirror. Both 'helped' but didn't completely solve the shake. The zip ties as shown in the thread really did help. Those fixes have been in place a few years now.

The tab that keep the housing on the post broke off awhile back, I had to epoxy the housing to the base because I was going on a trip in the morning. Now the mirror is shaking, the small bolt came off while I was on the road so it's gone. Just want to replace the whole thing to make it simple, maybe I can try to fix it :p

Good Luck. I've 'rebuilt' the screw mount with epoxy a couple of times on the DS to the point where it holds 'ok'. Biggest help was the silly zip ties. You do need some semblance of the tabs, but give the zip ties a try before replacing the entire unit. Salvage yards, cruiserparts.net, etc. may be your best bet. I'd think any of them will probably have problems with those tabs and perhaps even the screw mount. Ancient memory, but new OEM was in excess of $300 and not painted.

I believe the OEM mirrors are already painted. I ordered one several years ago from CDAN and it was around $160 IIRC and I specified the color. All I had to do was install.

The backing plate that is prone to breakage may be a good candidate for a 3D printer. Maybe get bhicks or someone to design something and sell it for a few bucks.

You can have it off and apart in about 20-30 min or less. And with a couple of bucks devise some solution/fix.

Using your mirror control make the mirror face up. Slide it off the hook since you only have it attached to one hook. Come up with a cool way of forming that tab again.

As you can see mine was starting already with a hairline crack. Super glued it.
