Need recomendations for a driveshaft shop? We bought a Ford Excursion to haul the twin girls (6 months old) around on trips, they have ALOT of gear when we travel. I have noticed that there is a vibration starting at 65mph so I wanted to get the driveshaft balanced and new U joints. Who do yall recommend?

I have rotated and balanced the tires, but that didn't help.

PS: I still have the 100 series too!!!

Ask Glenn at LexTech. He uses a particular that likes a lot.

I have used a drive shaft place down on Rivers Ave before......down not too far from the Amtrak station. It was for an F750..... but they should be able to help you out with an Excursion also.

Drive shaft problems are around 40 to 45 mph, i suspect an out of round tire or a bent wheel. But Drivesshaft replacement on Riners Ave. is who we always used.

That was my next idea on the vibration. I had my tires balanced and the front drivers wheel has weights on the outside and inside. The outside weights are spaced apart, so the weights are not next to each other. I suspect that's the one. Can a Gerald's Tire tell me my tire or wheel is bent? I had the tires balanced in Atlanta when we were there for Easter.

Tell them you suspect a bad tire or bent rim.
If you were to just ask them to rotate and balance the ires, you would get the same thing you got in ATL.
They should have a radial run out guage to check the tires.

Like Erick I have used CSR 3 times when I have wrecked or worn out parts on my drive shafts. Good prices and turn around was good

I used Joint&Clutch and DriveShaft Shop that Glenn recommended...did outstanding work.

3368 Hill Park Drive, North Charleston, SC 29418 843-760-6070. Larry I think is name of guy in back that did the work. You have to take the drive shaft off and take it to them....they do the drive shafts..you do the removal and installation yourself. I drove the truck in 2wd for the days it was being repaired.

Someone over there just closed / moved their shop. not sure if it was Joint & Clutch; could have been neighbor.
