I have a 77 drum brake from axle on a parts truck. Can I use the drive plates from that on my 81 disc brake axle. I'm considering getting rid of the aisin in favor of the plates because I basically leave them locked all the time anyway. Never know when I might need to go 4WD. The roads I use daily run along rivers and if I have a few spare moments I've been known to muck around a bit....

They should fit/work just fine.

I figured you'd be the one to answer-

I just remember reading here somewhere that the 76- ?? front axles were different somehow requiring a longer lockout.

Thanks-

Also listed differently on toyodiy- hmmm. But the question remains is the difference significant?

I'm just wanting to clear this up before the hub cap order- holes or no holes......

Anyone have any further input on this?

If you already have the parts why not try fitting them together and find out for yourself? All it will cost is an afternoon of wrench time. Then report back with what you found out.

I guess that is what I'll have to do. Unfortunately these days an afternoon of wrench time happens once a month.....
