Started on the process of replacing my drive belt on my 2b today. First I can't find the procedure in the FSM I must be blind.

Secondly, I removed the bolt on the alternator adjustment bracket but must be missing something because I can't get the thing to move to the right to remove the belt. I see another bolt below the alternator that I am assuming needs to be loosened but wanted to check in here first.

Am I missing anything else?

Thanks
Chris

Yes the alternator bottom bolt needs loosening in order to remove the belt. Post some pics so we can see what you have.

Thanks Mike. I guess I haven't undone enough. It's a PITA.

Got the new belt on.

Life pro advice: there is a bolt on the back of the alternator that you need to hold from turning or else you will turn and turn the front bolt forever until you want to smash the engine with your wrench.

Hi Chris
Just a quick note as I also have a 2B where did you get a FSM from as this engine was in JDM cruisers only and the manuals are in Japanese ? Would love to get my hands on one.
Good luck with the spanners

Hi Bob,

It really depends on your year model. Mine is a Feb 1981 so many of the parts and procedures are the same on the 3B engine so that is the manual I typically follow. I have a B-2B manual but find it is less pertinent to my engine. I have attached links to download them below.
