Hey, I've installed pyrometers before - into Cummins manifolds each time and think that the gauge is a necessity for any diesel engine's happiness.

So I'm gonna' put one in this little no turbo "B" engine and look at the manifold and wonder "Where?" There's no meat to cut threads in..... or is there?

There's a 3/4" bung in the kit to weld onto the pipe below the manifold flange I guess but is that the usual thing? Is there enough cast iron at the back gathering end of the manifold to support a couple of threads of 1/4" npt??

for non turbo, I used a autometer kit that came with a clamp on probe. I went as close to the outlet I could. I feel it would be accurate. Much easier than drilling/tapping/welding.

only need to punch a 1/4 inch hole or so in the exhaust down pipe, easy!

Nevermind, I brazed the bung onto the pipe and let the puny manifold be.
