Drains to where?

folks,
where does the rain drain to when it goes into the grates in front of the windshield where the wiper linkage is housed? i got som bad rust alond the seam of this in the engine compartment/ firewall where the wiper motor mounts to. tks

I think there are drains on each side just ahead of the front door hinges. You can see them with the fenders off.
