How do you separate the drag link from the steering box pitman arm? Nothing wrong with my pitman arm!

If I am thinking of the right part, I used a TwilightZone puller from their loan a tool thing. It is a bearing puller I think. 2 arms and a big bolt that pushes as you tighten.
Do not use an air tool for this. It will tear the hell outta the tool and send shrapnal around your shop.
Good luck.

If your removing the pitman arm than do what Blueticker17 said or get a pitman arm puller. If you want to pull the drag link there's a cotter pin on the end that holds a large slotted screw, loosen the screw till you can move the drag link forward about 1 inch and the rod should pull right off the ball, This is assuming that you have a Toyota steering box.

Kevin,

Your right on the money, I was able to get in separated easily, it's amazing what a little knowledge can do! What is the proper installation procedure? Do I tighten the screw completed and back off a 1/2 turn, or is there a torque value?

There's probably a specific torque value, but you definately want it tight. Think about what it does. You don't want it loose.

There's a spring behind the screw so I just tightened it as tight as I could with a big screw driver, put the cotter pin back in and greased it up. ( I know some one will tell me how to do it the right way now)
