My 98 land cruiser has started leaking a sticky/oily substance from the panel armrests on both the driver and passenger rear doors. It seems somewhat corrosive because I has stripped some paint where the door weather seal contacts the car on the bottom. I have taken the door panel off and there is nothing going on inside the door or on the backside of the trim panel. It is almost like the darker trim is melting? Any thoughts on what is going on?

This is awful! I will be following to see what others say. Sorry this is happening.

Is the liquid the color of the trim or clear? It looks like exactly where your arm would sit on the rest. Sure you didn't get in without wiping that oil off of your arm?
Just throwing ideas out, Could someone previously have glued that trim back on with some strange glue?
Taste it! or at least smell it to try to narrow it down.
Bottom line... never seen anything like that happen before. Good luck!

It is tan colored. It seems to be happening to three of the four doors thought the door in the photo is the worst. At this point ill just keep wiping it up and see if it continues to happen?

Very strange... Hopefully someone else has seen something similar.
Does it relate to temperature or weather at all? Look up above that area, maybe something dripping. If you push on the padded area, does it ooze out or is it on the surface?
Just throwing out thoughts. It'll be interesting to know what it ends up being.
Keep us posted.

You know, I had that happen on the rear passenger door (driver side) of the Melon a few months ago, but I attributed it to an undisclosed spill by one of my teenage boys and just cleaned it out. It hasn't happened again but I will keep my eyes open for it. It was very sticky and I had to use a Simple Green solution to get i off the door handle.

100 series door cards are unobtanium, so this is a concerning development....
