Door trim clip

I noticed I had a loose trim piece above the driver‘s door and I ordered a clip, but I am having trouble getting it all together. The clip doesn’t seem to wanna snap on the trim piece nor does it seem to want to clip in to the frame to put this back together. Any tips?
