Door lock actuator issue, I think, but would like a second opinion.

Sage ones,

Reading other threads have led me to a tentative actuator diagnosis, but I wanted to bounce it off y'all first.

SYMPTOMS/OBSERVATIONS:

About 2 weeks ago, my front DS door intermittently stopped participating in the keyfob auto-lock process. All other doors would lock and unlock as intended. Drivers' (and all other doors) would function normally with the interior lock button. The keyfob would still work about 1 in 5 attempts.

The situation has rapidly deteriorated to the point where the Drivers' door will no longer work with the keyfob AT ALL, and will now only rarely work with the interior switch.

Behavior is the same with mine and the wife's key. When the faulty door does work with the interior lock switch, it seems to have plenty of power behind it and locks/unlocks at full speed.

Additionally, I used the key to physically unlock the drivers' door yesterday, and the alarm went off until I put it in the ignition.

One other symptom which I think has to be related; I noticed out of the corner of my eye, the door light on the drivers' door blinking a couple times when I think it should have stayed on.

Thanks for your time and any advice!

It sounds like a bad door lock actuator to me. I'd start there. You will get some other funny symptoms as the car will try to lock itself but won't fully be able to complete the action... It may think it's locked when it's not and vice versa.

Sounds like an actuator issue, and also you possibly are not using your Master key (or you don't have a master key) for your vehicle. The alarm going off generally means your car is not recognizing a master key, so I'd follow the key programming instructions on here and verify that you have a good master key. You can reprogram your keys if necessary. Also you DON'T need to unlock/lock the doors with the remote in order to program the keys. You can simply pull the lock/unlock mechanical mechanism on the inside door handle to program the remote. I've burnt out a actuator motor trying to program my keys, so I learned the hard way. Plus it's easier to get the timing down if you just use the lock/unlock door handle instead of the remote.

If you decide to go with new actuators, I have 5 that I bought from @jonharris and no longer need. I can ship them to you for what I paid him.

I'll do you one better. The last time I needed a door lock actuator, it was behaving exactly like yours. Well, as it turned out a hell of a guy here informed me that he had an extra. He shipped it to me quickly at no cost to me and even paid for the shipping.

I had informed him that I would in kind return the favor to another who was faced with the same problem.

Shoot me a PM if you're still in need of one.

I ain't telling his name but it rhymes with "Texas El Ex Funhundred"
