Those "T" hose connectors..."Looked" fine at the last timing belt change (232K)... Saturday I'm backing my boat in the water and smell the hot engine smell....temp gauge is headed to the moon. Didn't troubleshoot it then, quickly parked it and headed out to the islands in the boat, no use ruining the rest of the day. When I came back, I poured 2 gallons of water in the truck, figured..hoped.. I might make it the 3 or 4 miles to the house before it overheated....made it just barely. The gauge was just passing center when I hit my driveway. Found one T had split, but both just crumbled when I pulled the clamps off. I was without the truck for two days because no Toy dealer in town had them in stock? (I figured that would be a common part)

All for a repair that took less than 30 minutes once I had the toyota parts in hand. I was tempted to use the brass bits from Lowes, but decided to wait for the right ones from Toyota and be done with it.

As others posted before... if you haven't replaced them...you should, on at least the higher mileage rigs like mine...

Nice to hear you made it back alright. I also think this is an age item as the 98s are now 15 years old. I plan to replace mine ASAP.
