It is a 97 Accord EX with auto tranny. I have seen a few posting on craigslist that, few Honda Accord & Acura CL between 96 to 99 with less than 130K miles have tranny issues. Any common issue on the Accord for that year.

Probably, the dealership will be able to check the VIN to see if it has been replaced yet. Talk to them, they might also reassure you that if it ever does go it will be covered.

Trevor on this forum had his replaced by Honda for free. He loves Honda now...

the 93-97 trannys are alot better then the 98+ .. but they do go bad from time to time if they are not cared for properly .. i just finished installing one on a 97 accord LX i bought it used for $350 (JDM Trans)

common failure of honda transmissions is when people dont use OEM transmission fluid . non OEM transmission fluids cause the clutch material to peel from the clutch packs at my shop we only use oem honda fluid on honda's to avoid this problem

93-97 are notorious for hard shifting but that is not necassarily a bad thing, just not as comfortable as luxury vehicles of the same years or newer vehicles.
