do you get vibrations with your sliders? (1 Viewer)

I'm not sure about how the dampener would be a benefit. It could make things worse. The dampener could transmit rather than dampen, couldn't it?

Also, if you were to install one of these things, you want to make sure you removed all of them before USING your sliders off road. I could see these transferring the force of a slider impact to the body thus causing damage.

Ary, i see exactly what you are talking about. I think it could be a good idea for those who have slider relatively close to the body. Also, i think if they were to get used, i would hope that the body is strong enough to simply squish the rubber instead of it denting the body.

I think we're concentrating on the wrong area here. The slider and not the cats, which are producing the sound that is resonating. Toward that end I just wrapped my catalyitc converters with 16 rolls of duct tape. Smoking like crazy but the vibration is gone.

What i stated way earlier in this post, was i was going to try the extreme sound deadener that is used for sound systems in vehicles. I have applied this in the vehicle and made a huge difference in noise level. I am going to stick it to the mounting bracket that is located right by the cat exhaust. to see if this will deaden the rub and or sound from when i torque the engine. i simply will cut a 2" by 4" piece and mount in on the top of the bracket. I hope this will remove the sound?
this stuff has a aluminum topping on it so hopefully the heat wont get to it.

Todd, i was just looking in a cataloge last night about exhaust header wrap. I wonder how wrapping the cats would effect the resonating? What say you?

I am ASSuming you are talking about dynamat? I would think the heat from the cats would melt the tarish stuff used as adhesive. Maybe not, give it a try and let us know.

Busy day at work huh Todd.

B flat at best.

What, are you under there with a damn guitar tuner or something?
I bet it would fix everything. It would wrap the cat, give some sort of padding so it would't knock the slider, and be a baffle. Brilliant!

Todd, I hope you were kidding about the duct tape... Cats get VERY VERY hot! I seared my knee once by pumping into one for a mere split second....not a fun experience. I would be very weary of putting anything directly in contact w/ the cats, except something designed for that use, such as the exhaust wrap alex speaks of. I've also heard that the exhaust wrap can absorb water and causes rusting/deterioration of the exhaust pipes. Something to keep in mind...

We'll have to meet sometime.

Yes, I was kidding. I seldom have any thing of substance to add so fall back on humor as a crutch. :ban:

True, but it's getting my post cout up pretty quickly. Plus i started it, so it's cool to see all the responses. Anyways, lets let it die until this weekend.

Later,

Arya, we are trying to let this thread die! But yes, URE is on! Just tell me a time and i'm there. When it opens, of course.

A Uwharrie trip is certainly due. Its right around the corner from me and I have not hit any trails yet. I have also seen the sign for a OHV area up by Wilson Creek. Have any of you hit any of those trails?

My schedule is generally a can of worms but I'd like to get together in the Spring. Summer is hard for me, my wife runs a summer camp and I run Camp Kaderabek. But post up a date eventually and I'll do my best.

In the meantime let's meet up in Katemcy in March.

I'd love to, but i think it's a little far for me and slightly out of my budget. I am going to GSMTR though. Just haven't sent my crap in yet. I'm getting to it.

Bill, i haven't seen the trails around wilson creek. Is that near fontana lake? Wondering cause i used to fish on eagle, forney and hazel creek in the Cherokee forest.

As soon as URE opens, i'll post a trip up in the trail ride section. Hopefully we can represent the cruisers since every time i've gone except once i was the only cruiser there.
