Discovery 2. It has been a pretty good vehicle but I'm missing the Cruisers.

Hello all

I have been out of the Land cruiser game for the last couple of years. I am currently driving a Discovery 2 but I'm missing the Toyotas. I have had an 80,62 and a 60 in that order. I really like the 100 series when they are properly outfitted with all the goodies. I think they are lacking in their looks without the addition of lift, tires and bumpers. I love the 80 series but I want that 4.7 V8. My first 80 was a 1991 so it was a dog. I'm sure the later 80's with the bigger 6 were ok but I like v8 motors. I'm really hoping to find one with less than 150k on the clock. I will be searching over the next few months. I like the lockers available in the 98-99 models but the front diff weakness issues are scaring me a bit. I definitely don't want an AHC rig. What year did AHC start in the cruisers? Anyhow I hope to be back in a cruiser soon.

Just differentials is selling one that is kitted out really nice just as you describe. Search the name Just Differentials.

That's a very nice rig! I am planning to buy something close to stock and build it up myself. I have to do it in stages as my budget allows. I'm going to be very patient and pick just the right one for me. My biggest concern will be rust. IH8RUST. Ha! Secondly I want a well taken care of grocery getter to start. Lowest miles possible etc.

I really wouldn't worry about miles too much... I'd take a rust free high miles over low miles with any rust... just my opinion... but let me say My low buck street cruiser has 306k miles on it and everything WORKS except the sunroof, and the oil pressure gauge... it runs and drives as it should... I did put a 138k mile engine in it from a 2003 4runner which was simple and cheap... BUT it wouldn't have needed the engine if the radiator hadn't busted... the internals of the 300k engine i took out showed all but no wear... I'd rather deal with mechanical issues over rust or a ratted out interior any day...
good luck in your search
