Started a new thread as I thought this would be a quicker way to get an answer.
I'm suffering from info overload from reading all sorts of FAQ's, posts and build threads.
This is what I have:
- 1973 FJ45 RHD with drums on the front, runs drive stops. But not as good as I want. Front diff has Warn free wheeling hubs. Not sure of the centre ratio. Rear end has new twin pistons on each wheel and I'd like to keep them to keep cost down.
- A stripped down BJ42 axle with fine splines and a 37:9 diff ratio.
Can I, swap the disc knuckles onto my FJ45 diff and leave the existing birfields (most likely coarse spline) in place, run new brake lines, add a later model booster and call it done? Obviously new seals and bearings would be put through the 45 knuckles.
Or do I as a last resort, rebuild the BJ42 axle, and build a rear end with single cylinders ( ie 60 series) and 37:9 centre to suit?
