on our 100 , theres an annoying alarm that sounds once you have crossed 70km/ph i think it is, has anyone disabled this? what wires need to be cut? or is there a special speaker????

thanks!

What year is your 100? Do you have a navigation system? I am away from my '03 at the moment, but I do know that certain Personal Navigation Devices (PNDs) can be set to alert the driver via audible and/or visual alarms when the posted speed limit is exceeded and/or a driver-defined speed is exceeded. If you have a navi system, check the settings menu.

Sorry I cannot be much more help than that at the moment.

i have a Right hand drive 2000 model LAndcruise 100 with the 4.2 litre turbo diesel automatic
it does not have gps -its a speed alarm thats built in from the factory in japan.

My guess is that this is either a software setting in the ECU or jumper/fuse controlled somewhere in one of the fuse boxes.

Are you in Japan ? It's the only country where I have heard of these alarms.

If it is a separate speaker then it would be easy to cut or remove the wires. Even better would be a toggle switch for resale or safety inspection purposes.

If it is an ECU setting then going to a dealer may be the best way to go but they may be unwilling to make the change if it is legally required.

They used to have a system like that, maybe upto 25 or so years ago when you exceeded 100km/hr.

Not sure if you meant 70km/hr or 70mph (70km/hr would be awfully slow for the alarm to come on though).

That said I have no idea how to fix it other than what's been suggested/mentioned by NMuzj100.

G'luck!!

thanks members! ill have to remove the cluster and look behind.
im not in Japan, im in the caribbean But we get lots of used Japanese cars direct from japan here!

and my bad- it alarms when you go over 100 km/hr.

Hi, did anyone find a resolution to this? I have a 1998 LC100 and the alarm goes off at 100kph...need to disable.
Search techstream on here. It’s the Toyota software used to diagnose issues and change vehicles settings through the OBDII port. I imagine there’s got to be a setting in there allowing you to disable the speed alarm.

Linking to this thread . . The only known fix to the pre 08/2002 HDJ100 overspeed alarm seems to be a hardware mod to the instrument cluster.
