Per this video: on newer Lexuses and Toyotas you can hold down the Lock button on your fob, and then while pressing it down, you can tap the Unlock button twice -- and that will disable your key fob until you hit another button on the key fob.

That works on my newer Lexus (wife's car).

When I go jogging at some trails I can just disable the key fob, then hide it around the vehicle somewhere and don't have to worry about someone walking up and grabbing the handle and even starting the car because the fob is in proximity.

But I have a 2010 GX 460 and that sequence doesn't work. Was this not available on that old of a car or was it a different sequence? Anybody know?

Thanks!

That's a great work-around! Just don't forget the button sequence to get it connected again.

While these attacks have been around for over 10 years ..you probably didn't hear about it on the news until 2015 or 2016.

Only 2020+ is likely with this option on the 460

You can turn off Smart Access via customization in nav though
