Just out of the blue my 2000 100 has started with a directional indicator issue.

Left hand arrow in dash panel is always lit when truck is running with any of the lights on.

Right side works normal. Left will actually blink on the dash, but it goes from dimly lit to flashing.

All outside lights working properly.

So, here is the weird part:

When I shut the lights off the dash light goes out & the indicator works normally; but the dash lights flash on & off with the directional.

I am thinking maybe a ground; but where? At switch, flasher, etc??

This is the first electrical issue I have ever had with my truck in 8 years of ownership.

Thanks for any input.

I had a very similar issue on my 80 a few years back. It turned out to be the trailer hitch wiring harness and converter. Years of water and salt caused a short. I replaced it and the problem went away completely. I would start there, unplug it from the factory harness port and see what happens - 2 minute test. If that is not it, it could be a voltage regulator for the instrument cluster. Good luck.
