I have a 99 LC and had it wired for a 7-Pin round wiring socket a few months ago at a reputable trailer shop here in St. Louis. I need this set up to pull a bass boat with electric trailer brakes. My concern is that the lights on my trailer, both running lights and brake lights are very dim. I talked with my Toyota Dealer about a bigger flasher (used to solve that problem on older cars) and the dealer said that there is no such part on a LC. They told me that they have had numerous complaints about it, but do not know what would be causing it. Can any of you provide some insight? I am in the dark on this one...

Thanks,
Brett

Am I the only one with this problem? Please help as the dealer is lost.

Thanks,
Brett

Probably due to substantial voltage drop between battery-wires-plug-harness-trailer. Grab a volt-meter and start probing.

Where are the folks who pull trailers?

Sorry, I was out towing things around.
Check the grounds! Check the grounds! Check the grounds! Check the grounds! Check the grounds! Check the grounds! Check the grounds! Check the grounds! Check the grounds! Check the grounds! Check the grounds!

Ok, now that's out of the way, have them do a voltage drop test on the ground side, and ask if the trailer convertor recall has been done. The original convertor was zipped tied to the cross member above the spare tire and were damaged by water getting in them. The new ones are now in the left rear quarter panel behind the jack and tool kit.
Dim lights = high resistance. Also check the integrity of the wire harness on the trailer. Boat trailers are infamous for corrosion everywhere. Good boat trailer maintainence requires checking all the light sockets at LEAST once a year and applying dielectric grease to the bulb bases. If it's used a lot, rewire it every five years with new lights. Kits out there are cheap now around $45 if you shop.

I hate trailer lights. They've got to be one of the cheapest components ever made!!! I need to rewire my trailer. Lights are barely visible on any vehicle they plug into.
