Hi everyone, This is the first time I have posted on this forum.I hope someone can help me. I have a 2001 Landcruiser Amazon 4.2 diesel.
I decided to remove the rear diff lock as it wasn’t working.
After I had removed the diff lock actuator I started to strip it down.
First mistake I didn’t note the position of the gears, so now I don’t know what position it goes back.
I then removed the cover off the back of the electric motor (where the brushes are)
When I removed this I found that all the magnets had come unstuck.
Second mistake, I just pulled them off the armature, cleaned them up and stuck them back in with araldite. I’m now thinking that perhaps they should have gone in a certain order, i.e. north to south, as I cant get the motor to spin when 12v is applied.
Tried to get the motor to spin before putting back on axle, no luck.
My questions are, does anybody know the position of the gears in the unlocked position.
Is there a specific way the magnets should be assembled?
How do you test the motor before refitting? There are five wires, Black, yellowish, thin green, thicker green and a green and red.
Regards Bernie.
