Spent some serious time reading great threads on the diff and tcase fluid changes and I'm headed to the heated garage to make it happen today. I'm considering a tranny fluid change at some point too, but had a question I couldn't find any info on pertaining specifically to the 98 LC with the first gen auto tranny of the 100 series. My LC shifts a bit soft into 3rd gear. No slippage, just...gentle and soft and somewhat slow versus snappy. Other shifts I can hardly feel at all and merely watch the tach to know it's shifting. Having never owned a LC or driven one, I have no metric to compare whether this is normal or not. Anyone care to chime in on this? Anyone with a nice LC live in the Southwest Michigan or Northwest Indiana area that would be willing to drive my cruiser once just for a comparison? A couple of minor drivetrain buzz's and some windshield noise also exists and I know improperly installed windshields etc can cause that issue, but I would love to just have someone with LC experience just take mine out for a test drive and give me your thoughts. :steer:

Can't speak of your shifts points but I do know my '00 shifted smoother after the fluid exchange. I used Amsoil. OregonLC has a great how to thread on the fluid swap.

My shifts are never harsh. But sometimes the 2nd to 3rd is almost too soft. I want to firm it up a bit. On the 80 series someone mentioned adjusting the kickdown cable. Does this apply to the 100 series as well?

I have a,ways felt as though mine shifts really smooth, almost as smooth as my 2011 tundra did. I have 2.5 ome and 295 mts on too. I can notice when it shifts, just happens very smoothly.

Thanks for the metric. Like I said, I've never driven a LC before so I have no idea what it's supposed to feel like. I can feel a gentle but very solid shift through every gear. On the LC, I literally have to watch the tach otherwise I won't feel some of them
