Been driving the old wheeling rig around lately (87 Ford Diesel Flatbed) to get some things done.

Wow, do I miss driving this thing some times. Especially when it comes to calculating the MPG, vs my Pig of a Ramcharger.

Drove all over Reno the other day, got it smogged, drove back to Carson, came home and hauled a load of yard trash, drove back to Carson, idled around half the town in stop and go stuff. Drove home, idled around the yard for another good 30 minutes or so and it still returned a hair shy of 18 mpg, with me driving it like I stole it, since I like the sound of the exhaust...

The ridiculous Ramcharger gets a whopping 10 if you drive it like a grandma, 7 or less if you wheel it and drive it hard...

For 8-10 MPG difference, I think I might just have to start driving this thing more often.. HMMMMM.... maybe it's time to finally get around to putting the turbo on it..

And to think you got rid of two d60's that would have fit it...

Of course I too have gotten rid of two ford d60's, so I guess I can't give you too much grief. :grinpimp:

That was part of the problem with the LC, with the :princess: driving it, we were lucky to get 10mpg, I could eek out 11.

The chevy is averaging around 15-16 around town, the ford pulls 18 empty.

Jack

Much as I hate being seen in the Grand Marquise it's tough to get rid of a car that gets 20mpg around town doing jack rabbit starts from every light. If I drive conservatively I can get the town mileage up to 21 or 22.

I can't decide whether to go with white trash ala 8 Mile image or stick with the blue hair image.

At least the property values don't drop by 20% when you drive the Grandpa mobile into the neighborhood. My truck is so ugly, I've had people nearly crash to get out of my way when I come down a narrow street...

It's old, ugly, smells like burning oil and moldy carpet, has enough bondo to cover a vw beetle sized dent and it's cross eyed to boot, but the damn thing is probably still one of the best values for dollar I've spent on a vehicle in a long time.

With that said, the crankshaft will probably part ways with the block when I start it to move it tomorrow...

People tend to get out of my way. I need a pair of those full wrap sunglasses, the kind that fit over regular glasses. And maybe a Homburg. That would really but the fear of god in people when they saw me coming. :grinpimp:

I'd see right through that. Your neck is still too long for you to pass as an official geezer.

Now.....If you hunched your shoulders real far, tilted your neck forward and peered over the top of the wheel while you drove with a pair of those over the glasses, sunglasses... Then you might have it going on.

that's the reason I still havve my 92 cummins dodge.. 20mpg tows great and if I drive 60 on the highway 23-24 is possible.. It's old and smelly but still goes good..
