Anyone have a brand name or part number for a clear fuel hose that can be used with diesel. I only need a short chunk for between the metal line coming into the engine compartment from the rear, to the fuel pump on the side of the injection pump. Not having much luck searching on the net so far, and one truck shop I chatted with yesterday said clear PVC for short term checks when narrowing down air issues, but they had nothing in stock for long term use.

Why can't you use clear vinyl fuel line? Does the diesel break it down?

Greg,
for what it's worth I've been running all my fuel through an opaque rigid polyethylene 3/8"OD tube. I didn't have the proper barb in the shop to connect 2 hoses together so I took a piece of HDPE and tapered the ends to fit. It shows no wear, no leaks and I've put thousands of miles on it. I think you could see air bubbles through it. I have similar stuff on the VW Jetta SVO rig since I purge the fuel lines of air periodically when bleeding out grease but that's another story....

there is a hose shop in Spokane, House of Hose, that can answer this question if you need it. They know almost everything there is about any kind of hose.... 1-800-541-6351, 509-535-3638, www.spokanehose.com

It would have to be soft, so it takes up the vibration from engine to hard line I would think.

Yes, apparently many lines can not stand up to diesel. "Fuel" on that site may mean gasoline rated. I've shot them a note and will find out. There is diesel engine model aircraft clear hose available, however it is typically small diameter. I might have to take a trip out to the airport and see if I can connect with someone at a small hanger and ask around there.

hey greg, call aviall in vancouver, get the 1 800 number off the net, it will direct you to the vancouver dealer. ask them for the diameter you need in a Jet A-1 rating. I can't think of anything used in airplanes. but they have most of the items. I will check my aviall cat. in the morn.

If you get something that will handle Jet A-1 then it will work for diesel no problem.
