Did I screw up?

I changed my oil myself for the first time on my 100. Without checking, or thinking, I took out a bolt that I thought was the oil drain plug. It wasn't. How did I know? When I took the bolt all the way out no oil came out. .

On the skid plate there's a round hole (it's a circle and I think it's about center on the skid plate) about 2" in diameter. There's no cover. Just a hole that gives you access to this bolt.

I put the bolt back (duh), but what does it do and why didn't anything slick come out?

If this was to the rear of the oil pan I guess it would be a bell housing drain plug, so when water gets into the bell housing you can let it out. Just a guess.

Or possibly one of the skid plate bolts?

The bolt you removed is one of eight that holds the front skid plate (called engine under cover in FSM). The other seven are around the perimeter and are the self tapping type. The center bolt in the recess is a machine thread. All have 12 mm heads.

Not that bolt! man that motors shot, might as well sign it over to me and I'll do away with it if it's too painful for you.
