Purchased a 74 FJ40 w/ 79 Jeep Wagoneer 360 V8 engine for $3500. No doors, no top, but runs w/ 33.5' tires, little rust, and body in fair condition. Lots of "Character Dents." Thoughts on whether or not I got a fair or good deal, or whether or not I paid too much. I appreciate your thoughts.

Also, trying to figure out a process for restoring this old girl but not sure where to start and I don't have any contacts for good mechanics who are familiar w/ FJ's. Any and all unsolicited advice would be greatly appreciated. Thx, AVLCruiser

Need pictures!!! What's the rest of the drivetrain / suspension. Hard to say based on the limited info, but welcome and let's hear more!!!

Wasn't a guy in upstate selling this a while back.... a 360 in a cruiser is kind of unique.

360 Jeep engnes are good engines. I had one for a few years in a Jeep back in the early 80's and i could not kill it. If it had a 360 / T18 / Dana 300 drivetrain in it then it is a good drivetrain.

What is the rest of the drivetrain ?

Check the for sale thread. I think Snowydogz (sp?) posted up that he had a top for sale and maybe even some doors. - Not that you'd need them for several months...

The Upstate guys can likely help you find a mechanic that's closer to you but with a Jeep motor, you might be able to leverage NC4x4 or your local Jeep club to find someone.

Oh yeah and pics.... it will go a long way to seeing if you did ok or not

Yeah 360 mopar engines are rock solid same as their 304s

crazy kanuck not closer to him than us in the upstate?
