Did an oil change... now it smokes...

That does make sense. 2LTE's seem to have a lot of crank-case air movement for some reason; not sure why. I don't think it's an indication of wear, as I've heard about it lots in my reading forums. Restricting it I suppose could cause the air to find other paths (valve guides?) which would push oil. LIghter viscosity might increase the symptoms.

Rather than putting the PCV hose back to the intake, you should consider just running a hose under your truck. This is how a lot of the older diesels worked (3B stink pipe). Will at least prevent the sludge from going into your intake. I ran a oil catch can for a bit and had some problems with it, so now just run a stink pipe.

Well I've driven it around for the past few days and that smoking at idle has completely gone away. I just may have to run the ole stink pipe... I'm pretty sure the old CAT diesels had the same thing from the factory. With your do you find it leaks a lot in your driveway though? Maybe I will try and figure out a better way to catch the oil.

Very little if anything drips out. And like I said, it used to loose quite a bit of oil out the PCV until I cleaned the filter thing in the valve cover. Went from having to add about 1 litre per 1000km to not having to add anything at all between oil changes now.
