Hello gyus, new owner of a GX470 2005. Yesterday I changed the air filter and noticed an unattached cable with two plugs. The other end goes in a black box glued to the back of the box where the air filter is. Does anyone knows what this is for or what is it? Not sure but it looks OEM.

Looks like aftermarket air injection bypass. It plug to MAF sensir. Might be abandoned for some reason.

Air injection failure usually cause the engine to go to limp mode.

Hello, this is correct. I found it - "Gen 1: Secondary Air Injection System Bypass Kit (Plug & Play)"
Obviously the previous owner install it "just in case". Time will show. Thank you for the help.

Yeah SAIS Bypass. I installed one a few months ago. I dont care if the cat takes a little longer to warm up. I dont need the truck not running because of some stupid auxillary system. Looks like the control wire that goes to a relay in the fuse box has been removed from yours though.

I bet when they sold the automobile to you they disconnected the bypass to remove liability from themselves and if left unplugged you will soon see a code.

Kind of raises disclosure issues around the sale of the vehicle, like if there are air injection issues were you informed of that fact before the money was exchanged?

Hello, the truck is not with me at the moment and I cannot confirm that the two metal plates (blockers) are installed. I live in a warm climate so no worries about cold starts. My guess is that the previous owner install this kit "just to be sure" if needed. The car is maintained perfectly. It is under 100K miles with removed rear air suspension and no rust at all.
The truck start and run flawlessly.
What will be best if the metal plates are set, should I leave the system off or should I plug it?

You only need to install the plates if its already broken and stuck open. Since they are working and closed you dont need to install the plates. They are closed and will never open with the sais disabled. Just install that control wire and you are good to go.

I run this one from firewatermarine on my car. No issues.

Heres an install video that shows what relay you need to run your control wire to:

I tucked the control wire behind the windshield wiper cowl.

It looks like you have the hewitt kit.

Here is a link to your install instructions. You just need to run a control wire to the starter relay
