Hello all!! I have been abroad for a while. Miss my 89 FJ62 at home. I am overseas in Finland. I am looking at 2003 models. I have seen later models, earlier ones etc etc. I have 2 small kids so it must be as reliable as I can get. I am looking for a Diesel with a Manual Trans over here. I am going nuts looking. Should I look out for something in the say 2003-2007 period or anything around that.. I know a Diesel will last longer... But about the trannys. Does anyone have any feedback for manuals vs. autos behind the 3.0 Diesel. Thank you all in advance, Graham

my 2003/4 100 series is 4.2TD.....and auto. Going to an auto from a manual was a big step for me but the Amazon 2003/4 model 5sp auto is a great set up. Manual vs Auto each have a number of plusses and minuses....I suggest that you drive both and decide which suits you. In the UK there is little chance of finding a manual gearbox anyhow.

are you talking about a 100? cuz I thought they were all 4.2L (no expert though).
You may also want to ask in the Diesel forum.

is a list of cruisers for sale in Finland, sorted oldest to newest. Looks like most of them are the 3 litre Prado for the years you mention, i.e. the 120 series. But there are a couple of 100s in there.
